  • What is Botox®?

    Botox® is a naturally occurring protein from a bacteria called clostridium botulinum. It has been used for over 20 years for medical applications. Small precise doses can be used to relax muscles. It does this by preventing the release of acetyl choline which makes muscles contract. By relaxing these muscles you can reduce wrinkles.

  • Do Botox® injections hurt?

    Very fine needles are used to inject Botox® and it's generally tolerated very well. Simple techniques such as applying ice before the procedure and offering topical anaesthesia can help reduce discomfort further.


  • Is Botox® safe?

    The vast majority of cases have minimal side effects. Possible side effects include pain, burning sensation, bruising and swelling at the site of injection. Local muscle weakness including drooping of the eye lids or eyebrows can occur, however, these effects should ware off within 2 weeks. Other side effects can include headache nausea and flu- like symptoms. People with defective neuro-muscular transmission disorders, infection at the site of injection, glaucoma, pregnancy and breast feeding mothers should not receive Botox®.


  • When while I see results?

    People see results within 2 days of treatment, however it normally takes 2 weeks to see the full effect.


  • How long will Botox® last?

    The effect of Botox® usually last for up to 3 months.


  • How much do Botox® injections cost?

    Depending on your needs the cost of Botox® is charged per number of units used. The cost is $20 (+ GST).To give you an idea, an average 'forehead' would use 20 units.


BOTOX® is a Prescription Medicine containing 100 units of botulinum toxin type A for injection. It is used for the treatment of frown lines, forehead lines and crow’s feet, and for the treatment of severe primary hyperhidrosis of the axillae.
